Based on the elegant, turn-of-the-century designs of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, the Stormy 40 captures the grace of a bygone era. As a beginner-friendly version of our popular Stormy 45, this model is easier to build while maintaining the same authentic "draketail" transom and responsive steering that make our launches legendary.

Choose Your Power: Electric or Live Steam
The Stormy 40 is a medium-displacement open launch designed for realistic performance. We offer two distinct versions of the kit to suit your preferred power source:

Electric Motor Powered: This complete kit includes a high-torque brushed electric motor, rechargeable battery pack, charger, and electronic speed controller. All you need are AA batteries for the transmitter and your choice of paint or varnish.

Steam Engine Powered: Designed for the true enthusiast, this version is prepped for a working steam plant. While the steam engine is purchased separately, our detailed building manual provides specific recommendations for compatible steam plants and step-by-step installation instructions.

The Stormy 40 is engineered for a straightforward build without sacrificing quality. Every kit features parts pre-cut to an accuracy of 1/1000 of an inch, ensuring a perfect fit.
